The 2020-21 School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election will be held on June 9, as per Governor Cuomo's Executive Order 202.26. Due to the pandemic, the vote was postponed from its original May date, and will now be conducted exclusively by absentee ballot. There will be no voting at the polls. An absentee ballot with a postage paid return envelope will be mailed to all qualified voters in the school district whose names can be ascertained from the registration rolls utilized for the May 2019 budget vote and election, as well as those residents whose names have been added to the rolls since that time.
All completed absentee ballots must be inserted into an affirmation envelope and mailed to the District Clerk by voters. No absentee voters’ ballots shall be canvassed, unless they are received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote, June 16, 2020.
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, virtually. Please visit www.herricks.org for log-in details. A budget newsletter will be made accessible on the district website and mailed to households.
Because of the health and safety concerns associated with the pandemic and the resulting ordered closure of school, school districts cannot safely conduct personal registration of voters at the school building. Prospective voters can still register to vote with the Nassau County Board of Elections by completing an online application with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles as soon as possible at https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application.
